Orpa Hunting Safaris

Trophy hunting in Namibia Since 1998

Hunt in Namibia

Orpa Hunting Safaris offers trophy hunting in Namibia,

Africa. Namibia has a wide selection of indigenous big game species and is becoming an increasingly

important destination for African trophy hunting.

We take only few clients per hunting season starting the

1st February and ending 30th November to ensure that clients receive only the best service and attention while

ensuring that the highest quality trophies will be hunted.

This area is the habitat of the biggest free roaming Eland population in Southern Africa.

The main hunting areas are NOT game fenced, that allowing Orpa Hunting Safaris to offer some of the best free range

African plains game trophy hunting.

In addition to excellent Eland trophy hunting that Orpa Hunting Safaris can offer, the brushy terrain in the hunting areas also provide excellent habitat for Kudu, Oryx, Hartebeest, Springbok, Steenbok, Duiker, Warthog, Blesbok, Giraffe, Black Wildebeest, Blue Wildebeest, Zebra (Burchells), Zebra (Mountain), Impala, Damara Dik-Dik, Klipspringer, Waterbuck, Jackal, Baboons, Hyena’s, Small cats, Porcupine, Leopard and Cheetah.

We also do quite a variety of huntable birds.

Game like Waterbuck and Impala will be hunted in a high fenced area. 19000 hectares (47000 acres)

Sable, Roan, Lechwe, Black faced Impala, Tsessebe and dangerous game can be arranged.

Namibia, one of Africa's most politically stable countries, with road, telecommunication, electricity and medical infrastructure is comparable to any country in Europe or U.S.A.

Rifle hunting

The hunting is all fair chase. The hunter chooses how to hunt. One hunter with a PH or two hunters with a PH.

The animals are spotted while cruising in a hunting vehicle.

Hunts are only conducted on foot from there on.

A large area can be covered without losing valuable hunting time walking through dead terrain. As game are spotted, the PH plan the stalk and then the stalking will begin. The terrain and brush is as such that PH's will be able to bring you in a shooting distance between 80 and 180 meters (88 to 200 yards). "Shooting sticks" (a rest for your rifle in order to ensure a stable position to shoot from) will then be set up. Shots are

normally from 100 meters (110 yards) or less.

Blinds are available and occasionally used, especially for those hunters that have mobility issues.

Please note that shooting from vehicle is not allowed if the game are in big herds.

Bow hunting

Orpa was inspected and approved by the Namibian Nature Conservation and is registered as a bow hunting farm. All bow hunters must be guided by a PH. That means that the hunter hunts 1:1.

Bow hunting can be done by walk and stalk, ambush or by

sitting in bow blinds at waterholes. The success rate is much higher sitting by waterholes than to walk and stalk due to the dense bush and the short distance of bow hunting.

Bow hunting on Orpa is good and an average of five trophies are usually taken during a seven day bow hunting safari.

All huntable game species can be hunted on Orpa and other farms. Best months for bow hunting are from July to November. The blinds are build within 20 meters from waterholes and saltlicks. Some are elevated and some are ground blinds depending on the terrain, sun and wind direction.

Animals are regularly shot by using this method.
Spotting and stalking is a real challenge due to the terrain but hunters did it before. You are therefore competing against these natural elements when stalking.

Ambushing is normally the best hunting-method while stalking.
